In this project, we designed and produced a first prototype of a pizza cutter. The handle is made out of oak wood, the both radii are turned on the lathe and the slots for the blade holder and the rivet are milled on the milling machine.

The special feature is the blade. Our goal was to design a pizza cutter which appears modern and clean and in addition to that, is made out of stainless steel and oak wood, more conventional materials. Therefore the blade is turned entirely on the lathe out of one part, so the backside is clean and doesn't has a nut or a rivet.

The rivet has an oval shape to reiterate the simple appearance and to secure the knife holder against twisting. The outer surfaces of the rivet were also turned round before assembly so that it fits perfectly into the round handle. The shield, the blade holder and the blade itself are matt ground. The oak wood is sanded and oiled.
